Wonderland cinema is in full swing in Brisbane, with an announcement expected to be made in the next few days.
The cinema is located in the same area as the iconic Wonderland Park and will run from Thursday to Sunday.
In a statement, Wonderland Cinemas Queensland said:”Wonderland Cinema is the perfect place for our guests and their families to relax, watch the movie or simply unwind.”
The cinema will offer a wide range of films including classics such as The Big Sleep, Alice in Wonderland and The Mummy.
“We’ve also got some new films that we’re very excited about including The Big Fish, The Bigger Fish and The Big Escape,” the statement said.
“They are exciting films that really bring the characters back to life.”
The new Wonderland Cinema will be the fourth Wonderland to open in Queensland and the third in the ACT.
The Wonderland park has long been synonymous with Brisbane’s entertainment scene, with the iconic buildings attracting a diverse group of people and events.
But in recent years, it has been under attack by local residents and businesses who fear it will be overrun with large, over-exposed structures.
The City of Brisbane has now announced that it is planning to redevelop the park.
Its Director of Development and Planning Peter Gee said the project will allow for more people to visit and play in the park, adding that the park would become a “premier destination”.
“The community is really supportive of the redevelopment of the park,” Mr Gee told news.com.au.
“It’s a very vibrant part of the city, and the parks are very important to Brisbane.”
