A new mobile app for ticket-buyers in New York’s Broadway, Times Square and Madison Square Gardens theaters is launching today.
The platform, called Live Pass, allows patrons to check the availability of new screenings by using a smartphone or tablet.
The app is available in all of the city’s theaters for $3.99.
A similar app was launched in the United Kingdom in January.
“Our goal is to make the experience as seamless as possible for people who might not normally be able to use a smartphone, tablet or smart TV,” said Alex Korn, chief marketing officer for Live Pass.
The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store.
The company’s founder, Sami Al-Khatib, says the app will be used by more than 1.3 million users and was developed by an engineering team at Facebook, a social media company that sells a suite of mobile applications to brands.
Al-Khattib said the app is being designed with an eye toward creating an affordable, mobile-friendly option for users in the Broadway, Broadway, and Madison parks.
The new app can also be used on a computer or connected to an iPad for viewing.
